kingdingeling Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I've just moved to my new place in Kopenhagen and the landlord has a wireless network installed in the place. My iPhone and my flatmates MacBook connect just fine, however my Samsung laptop doesn't even find the network in the network list. The router is an Asus RT-N56U 2.4GHz and my laptop uses an Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter. Thanks for any help guys!
IVIYTH0S Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Is it a hidden network? Did you try to manually connect to it? I know sometimes apple and windows computers have trouble sharing the same network. I remember my uncle had to broadcast two signals, Wireless G for my cousin's macbook and Wireless N for the Windows/Others
wevsspot Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Will your laptop find other networks out and about? I know it may seem silly, but are you sure the wireless is turned on (never hurts to double check the simple stuff). What OS are you running on the laptop? sword_fish Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 run windows network trouble shooting option ?
wevsspot Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 run windows network trouble shooting option ? That's a good suggestion and also the easiest (if Windows can detect and fix the problem ) Other things to check; 1. Wireless transmission rate; is wireless router broadcasting at 802.11g - 2.40Ghz, 802.11n - 2.40GHz or 802.11n - 5.0Ghz etc. If broadcasting N is your wireless card capable of receiving N? 2. Is there interference on the channel that the wireless router is transmitting on? Try another channel if so. Another thing I'd try if everything else is failing - use Device Manager to uninstall the wireless device. Also uninstall device drivers. Grab latest drivers and have them available for next reboot. Install latest drivers upon reboot and "new hardware" confirmation.
