bloodking Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 (edited) i was wondering which nforce2 boards are best for overcloking? which brand and chipset is on your mainboard and how well does it comply with your demands for overlcocking?? greetz bloodking :: edit :: one other question......how much difference does it make if you put 2 x 256MB on your mianboard (not dual channel) instead of 1 x 512MB?? because i can get my hands on some Hynix D5 ram modules but they are only 256MB and one other thing....that gigabyte doesn't look that bad...but on overclocking selection the EPOX isn't that bad either.....anyone got this board? Ziggy54354 Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Might as well get it outta teh way cause sum1 is gunna say something about it anyways. DFI infinity/lanparty boards are the best. Its like they were crafted by gods. Uhh some people have gotten close to 250 fsb on them.. and uhmm 4x SATA thingies which is always nice if ur into those SATA thingies. Pretty cheap too. I dont/never have owned one. I have my a7n8x deluxe, i like it but i would trade it for a infinity if i had the chance.
Special_K Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 DFI Lan Party or Infinity Check out Toms Hardware Review here. Note: Keep in mind that the Lan Party that they review is not the Revision B, which has many more overclocking features on it. DFI And Gigabyte Are The All-Around Winners
BeatRyder Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Well, if your mobo has dual channel capability, then the 2 256 DIMM's would be better, beacuse you can get more performance out of a dual channel setup. As for mobo's, I have a giga-byte GA-7N400 Pro2, it has a dual BIOS, which IMO is great if you are into flashing your BIOS and stuff. And its an nForce 2 chipset, its Dual channel capable too. and you can get 300 FSB out of the chipset. I am not sure if there is a proc out there that can do it. (actually an unlocked barton with a 8x multi and some PC600 RAM(if you can get that stuff) Any how, that's my 2 cents

Also, your right, the dual bios is a great option; expecially if your flashing it. Gigabyte has great reliability. Also, there is no pc600 ram that I know of, and even if there was the timings would be so horrible it wouldn't run well anyways on a NF2 board. just my two cents clarifying that. Everything else is good, the board is a good board, check out the link i put up a sec ago, very good review of 10 NF2 mobos. GmAz Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 (edited) It may not be the ''best'', but i use the ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe board and it runs great. ITs the Revision 2 board that supports 400FSB. I got my 2500 Barton up to 2.4Ghz. I haven't seen many with that OC and i think only 1 or 2 above it using the promethia vapor cooling setup. Then again, I haven't tried the other boards either. This is just my opinion. In the TOms Hardware benchmarks, the DFI rarely came up above the A7N8X board with a significant margin. It was usually the Asus on top. Those are also just numbers. Perhaps people that have one have tried the other as well and picked the DFI over the ASUS. My pick is still the ASUS. sdy284 Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Imma have to agree with Gmaz on this one. Of course, i'm biased to the asus, cuz i have 1 as well. But it definately is a great board. Right now im at 2.305 GHz with it and i haven't topped out my multiplier yet im at 11.5 outta 12.5 i think. Anyway, thats my 2 cents worth, happy oc'ing!
