MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming Reviewed

When I get the cash together for a Haswell build, I think this MSI is going to be on the motherboard list. Very sharp looking board, nice price, good features, and seems to keep stuff cool.

What color does the VR heat-sink have? Is it pink or red?

MSI have copied Asus ROG theme.

On a more serious note, very good board. Would be a good choice as mid-high end overclocking build.

Hey ccokeman, did I read the specs right....  No front panel USB 3.0 headers?

Does the newer MSI BIOS allow for overclocking voltage control via offset, or is it still just "auto" or "manual + LLC"?

Great review.  I thought that MSI hit a home running with the Z77 Gaming boards, and now they have some how managed to take that to the next level.  Good work MSI!

There is a USB 3.0 front panel header between the SATA ports and the 24 pin ATX power connection.

LLC is not really used with the Haswell Architecture.  You have adaptive vcore, offset mode and a static mode that works best when overclocked to ensure you do not get a vcore overshoot that will kill you on the thermals. Working on another board right now and I am still at 4.7Ghz with 1.35v static.
