Need a new head unit

Coors

Recommended Posts

Looking to replace my stock double din head unit with a single din.  Reason being so I can mount a CB below it in the empty space.  Any car stereo gurus out there have a recommendation on brand/model of what I should get?  I don't need anything too fancy.  I won't be running amps or subs.

I've been running the same Pioneer head unit for the last 8 years or so, never had an issue with it at all. I like Pioneer, but there are others who go for Alpine or Sony or the like.

Are there any certain features you want/need with it?

Not really.  I do subscribe to Pandora so i'm looking at some that have Pandora functionality built in.  Also right now looking at "digital media receivers".  I almost never use CDs anymore so figured I could save some space and I guess they produce less heat?  Could be good for having the CB right below it.

I've got a nice head that I pulled from my Mustang right before it went to the wrecking yard. I had just put it in a couple months prior to my accident, its a Kenwood, and don't have the model handy right now. It cost me $150, and I'd be willing to let it go cheap since I don't plan on installing a radio and sound system in my Datsun. PM me if you're interested.

Its quite nice, comes with all the fancy HD radio and USB stuff. I used to just have a 16 gig flash drive plugged into it and just had all my music on there.

Here it is. Discontinued, but it was still on sale under a year ago. It also does Pandora like you wanted.

I think i'm going to go the digital media receiver route.  If they produce less heat that will help with also having a CB right below it I think.  And since I hardly even use CDs anymore it'll just get dirty and dusty...and possibly even muddy lol.  This is from yesterday:

Do you have an iPhone to stream Pandora? I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KDC155U-Car-Cd-Player/dp/B00AM5JTB4 in my Miata.

I only use it for USB playback (WMA/MP3) and feed the line-out to an amplifier now but when I used it to directly drive my speakers it performed well enough.

iPhone no :yucky: .  But I do have an Android phone that does :P

That's what I was going to do with the Mustang because I don't even own any CD's, but I just figured whatever, might as well have the option for CD's, just in case. I ended up never using it, lol.

I'd die if my car was covered in mud like that.
