loberking Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I recently built a new PC. Got rid of my 12-core MacPro and used the money for that overpriced rig to fund my new PC. I will list as much info as I can. Let me know if I will have compatabilty problems with these components. Also are there any sugegtions on things I should check on the MB and drivers? Thank you. wevsspot Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Lober, please roll all of your questions into a single post. Starting multiple threads asking similar questions will only delay the help you'll be able to find here. Thanks.
EuroFight Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I'm pretty sure the things you have suggested should be compatible - you've got a nice build there. I'm not sure you'll need a 1200W PSU there though - maybe a decent 6-700W PSU at most. Finally, although it doesn't relate to the question, if you look at the bottom right hand corner of your post, and click on the 'Edit' button, you should be able to edit your first post, instead of adding another one. potatochobit Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 a current generation 12 core macpro would crush your i7 like a fat kid breaking into a cookie jar but you couldnt play any video games w 32GB is stupid unless you actually plan to use it if you have extra money to burn, waste it on nicer SSDs or a new mouse or something
nickk47 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Tell us what the main use of the computer will be? I am guessing gaming since you decided to sell off a mac for it?If it is for gaming and entertainment, then Id lower the amount of ram to 8-16GB, and get a 750W or 850W power supply, from reputable brands. With the extra funds and a bit more, maybe look into multi monitor setups...sound system, new keyboard/mouse as suggested by potatochobit, and you didn't mention any hard drives in that system either. High capacity SSDs will drive up costs fast.
