Cespenar Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Maybe be damned! I went for the Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0. The Bios is terrible. It is a sort of GUI. But that isn't so bad. When I wanted to install Windows 7 on this setup, I didn't get a chance to do a C drive wipe. It decided, all on it's own, to install on a disk that had my games on it. Games wiped! And the installation was crapped out. Tried again, and instead of installing on C drive, like I chose, it decided to install on E drive. Photos wiped! Downloads and driver back-ups wiped. All back-ups wiped. And the installation was crapped out. (Yeah I know I already said that. Now comes the wierd part. Tried to install again and windows tells me "I have no more drives to stuff up so I wont install anything. At this point Son wipes all drives, wipes all partitions and only then will Windows 7 install as it should. Now for all the stuff I had and lost. More downloads, more steam contact for the games and reloads and stuff. You all feel for me don't you? Come on! you do don't you? Any body. I'm drowning in tears here. hehe. freddie Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 What does that have to do with the mobo? sounds like a windows/user problem.
paulktreg Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I know it's a little late but for anyone else installing an OS it's always a good idea to have the destination drive only installed.

SpikeSoprano Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I feel for you, but don't think the mb was the problem, windows always asks me where to install .

Cespenar Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I'm glad you all thought this through. And thanks. Sitting up in bed this morning, I started thinking along these lines. I should have un-attached the other drive, but the thing that annoyed me was that I wasn't given a choice to install in a particular drive. There were 2 partitions on the main drive as well, so that couldn't be disconnected. Windows went straight ahead and did the installation. I thought it was the wierd BIOS that was at fault, but it was me. Now for the cruncher. That windows version is OEM. That might be what made it different. I'll ask in the software forum.
