travism21 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 i know about the hyper 212 evo and the thermalright true arrow, i was wondering if there were any better ones for around the same price of if i should just go ahead and get the evo
RedFury77 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 It looks like the EVO is the best. However there seems to be a handful of coolers that are just about on par (withing 1-3 degrees) and pretty close in price. So if you don't like the looks of the EVO maybe try something else. Here's one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233029&Tpk=night%20hawk This shows the Havik 140 at 3 degrees warmer than the EVO on the same setup. And then the Night Hawk a degree cooler than the Havik 140 on another setup. So I figure the Night Hawk might be 2 degrees warmer than the EVO? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835146011&Tpk=havik%20140 http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Thermalright-Archon-SB-E-X2-CPU-Cooler-Review/1741/6 http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Prolimatech-Panther-CPU-Cooler-Review/1475/
d6bmg Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 Nothing comes close to it at that same price range in terms of performance.

RedFury77 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Another option: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106188 The performer is up pretty high on the chart for that price: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Corsair-H90-CPU-Cooler-Review/1729/
IVIYTH0S Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 The 212 is the only cooler to buy IMHO, it will take any good newer processor into a nice overclock and you don't go broke. You'll be paying much more than that for just maybe 0.2-0.3ghz more (which matters even less when your chip is at like 4.5-4.7ghz)
Kuronin Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I just wanted to throw this out there, though the reviews aren't exactly glowing. 49,99 with a $10 rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106205

Darth_Tom Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Zalman CNPS9900MAX-R, from the Marketplace forum here: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=172693&hl=cnps9900max-r I have one and it's great, never will get in the way of a memory slot. Great cooling as well, better than the EVO. It pains me to see that one go unpurchased for so long.
red1776 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 This is one of my favorite inexpspensive coolers. I have used it on several builds to excellent results. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9403/cpu-tri-62/Thermalright_CoGage_True_Spirit_4-Heatpipe_Core_i7_CPU_Cooler_w_PWM_Fan_Socket_LGA_11561366.html
