bigball1 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Im in need of a good VM software. I have tried to install the VM software that win7 comes with. It installed ok along with the patch that is needed. I downloaded the XP VM and tried to install it. It gets to the last part of the install and says there was a error finishing it, and could not continue. Please try to install the software again. No error codes, nothing. So im lost as to what the problem is. So what do you guys use?
Nerm Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Well at work I deal mostly with Vmware products and lots and lots of Hyper-V. At home I mostly use just Vmware Player or Virtualbox. If you are new to virtualization Vmware player is easy to install and use.

Waco Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Not to hijack but how's debian for folding ? I would guess just as good as any other distro.

Badams66 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I'm a VMWare fan myself. Have been using Workstation since version 7. If cost is a factor then VirtualBox would be my next pick.
EuroFight Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I can vouch for VirtualBox too, I use a Linux VM for web browsing, the VM is stable and performs well.
bigball1 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I got a few VM working so far. I like this VirtualBox software. Takes a little to setup and get use to configuring it, but once you get it going, its a champ.
d6bmg Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Free option: Virtualbox. Paid option: Vmware. I use both, and I would say vmware justifies its price.
