Samsung Galaxy Note II

Recommended Posts

Today I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note II ($199) and just finished setting up my visual voice mail (because I was lost with out it having just switched from iPhone)

First impressions coming from a iPhone 3Gs this thing is fast! But so damn alien having used an iPhone for the last 4 years or so.

Bought an elcheapo 16GB card for it ($9)

Don't really know any of the capabilities seeing as I have been with iPhone since 2009 was not into jail breaking.

Can any one give me some tweak tips or point me to some sites that will help me customize and get familiar with all the goodness that is Android customization?

Business App suggestions would be great too! The phone will be used for all business no games at all.

The apps I mainly used with iPhone were GoDaddy, WordPress, AccuWeather, Invoice2go, Evernote, Facebook, Twitter, ( for my Nikon D3200 Flickr Pro account , WMAU,) Lohas Money, Google Drive, AICloud, Banking and credit card apps, and LastPass.

Thinking about a Bluetooth keyboard but want to get familiar with the new device first.

EDIT: have not even begun to look at transferring all my Music, Audio Books, Pod Casts, and General iTunes Purchases that are useable by Android yet. Hope its not to painful and labor intensive.

The Note II is fast compared to any phone, silly. Its got a damn quad core in it! :P My Note 10.1's got the same processor, I love how fast and smooth it is.

Invest in a good class 10 memory card. That'll give you 10 mb/s of write speed and over 20 of read speed. An el cheapo will be class 4, and is absolute crap.

As for capabilities, get titanium backup, and get a custom ROM. I recommend the official Cyanogenmod 10. Its based on Jellybean and tweaked like hell for maximum battery life and performance at the same time. After using the phone for a few days, you'll see what it doesn't do that you'd like it to and then you can refine your searches and look up stuff you'd like to do with the phone.

I don't use business apps on my phone and tablet, but I use a lot of stuff for school, so that's close enough. Also, we've both got the S-Pen, so any app I recommend works great with it.

Polaris office.

Beats Audio Installer (installs beats audio driver, sounds AMAZING).

AdAway (tweaks hosts file to block ads).

Dolphin Browser (best browser imo).

Drive (Google drive, sync all your docs and stuff and edit them, kinda like dropbox).

Dropbox (See above).

ezPDF Reader (PDF reader with annotations).

GSam Battery Monitor (Most detailed battery usage monitor).

HD Widgets (Great widgets).

Beautiful Widgets (More great widgets).

LayerPaint (Drawing).

Lecture Notes (Good notes).

MX Player (Best video player).

Player Pro (Best music player).

Swiftkey Keyboard (Get the paid one, the most AMAZING word prediction ever, really, trust me, you need this).

Teamviewer (Self explanatory).

Tasks (Great little app that makes tasks and reminds you and syncs with google calendar).

Clover Memo (Great app for notes and drawing).

You sure about the S3? Its hardly faster than the S2 and has the same processor in it, unless you get the int'l quad one.

Probably some ghetto $5 phone with a proprietary charging port.

The Razr M was released this winter.

Of course, it doesn't help the terrible pain of bad fish for dinner. I think I'm going to go die now.
