AtaliaA1 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 You have done everything. One thing left to test would be that 9800Gt, it is after all a bit long in the tooth. Can you use a freinds card to put in your machine?
wevsspot Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Dave, it's a lot of work I know................. At this point I would; Make sure you're running the latest BIOS release for your motherboard and your video card - if not update them. If you are running the latest BIOS release for your motherboard - reset your BIOS and load default values for now Format your hard drive and re-install Windows and all the latest drivers for your various pieces of hardware And I'll echo what Atalia said about borrowing a loaner gpu and seeing if that fixes the problem. In fact that would probably be my first action if I had that option.
davemonkey Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 i haven't got anyone near to loan me a gpu and my bios is up to date . my system can run hitman absolution and other stuff fine , its just far cry 3 at the moment giving me problems hopefully i'll be getting a new rig or upgrading this one so i might just have to wait it out
wevsspot Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Have you tried turning all of the in-game graphics options to low. Maybe the game is maxing out your GDDR?

paulktreg Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 "600 watt psu , nothing fancy but very reliable" Nothing fancy is never reliable. Have you tried a different power supply?
WarWeeny Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) "600 watt psu , nothing fancy but very reliable" Nothing fancy is never reliable this, if you got an old system it will show in the psu, plus 2nd base psu's are pretty much not reliable at all (unknown brands etc) if it does act like it should, have you tried to update the game or...downdate? :S if the newer version if giving you troubles Edited February 8, 2013 by WarWeeny
