Gremlin Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I am planning to build a machine for someone and don't know what motherboard to get. He wants to spend $1500 with shipping and taxes.. So I am going for an Intel I5 CPU. If the whole system comes to about about $1200, I might go for a I7 Cpu So that being said.. Can you guys help me out with both sets I5 and I7.. I was looking at gigabyte motherboard.. Thank you

Skidmarks Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 For gaming whether it be i5 or i7 any well known brand of mobo will get the job done. The more features you want, the more you pay. If you want to do serious overclocking, it'll cost even more. Boards from Gigabyte, Asus, Asrock, MSI & even Intel are fine. Your choice. ohldboy Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Generally the Asrock Z77 Extreme4 is the lowest priced often recommended motherboard, better boards from Asus and Gigabyte and Asrock are good to very good. MSI boards require research, some have had difficulties. What are your overclock intentions or special requirements?
Justhavocman Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I'd advise you to stay away from the ASrock extreme 4 as it uses low quality components , suprisingly the extreme 6 is a whole different story and is a really good motherboard! I'd recommend the Asus P8Z77 Pro v
