Reset BIOS first before replacing unlocked processor?

Recommended Posts

I am going to replace my Sempron 140 which is unlocked to Athlon II x2 4400e. But before removing it or replacing anything, do I need to reset the BIOS? Because I remember that unlocking increases voltages or something. I am a bit new to unlocking. I thought of this problem right after disassembling the whole thing.

Bottomline: Do I need to reset the BIOS (because it unlocked the Sempron 140) before replacing a new processor?

I have a BIostar A780L mobo.

I am going to reset it then. I'm scared that my PC will go *pop!*

Not because it will be destroyed but everyone here might wake up from the noise. It's 3AM here and everyone is asleep. LOL

Seriously I'm scared.
