Pteroduck Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Hey guys i was wondering what ambient temps for the i7-3770k is I have 3x140 and 2x140 rad with xigamtek silent fans and the idle temp is 38Cel, is that normal? seems a bit high. VaporX Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Are those fans high static pressure? A silent fan tends to be slow and if the fans are also not deigned for high pressure you might not be getting as good of air flow over the radiators as you should. With those fans your idle temps seem a bit high but are not bad in the grand scheme of things. Plus in the end idle temps might be a symptom but are seldom a real concern. What is the temp under load?
Pteroduck Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 What would too high be? I'm planning to overclock it

ClayMeow Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 They're rated to run 100C, so you don't really have to worry. It's more about what you're comfortable with.
Pteroduck Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 what would be a good temperature though? Some people told me 55 is the highest they'll run it
SpikeSoprano Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I know on my i7 it's safe to 72c according to intel, but 100C way too hot to run any cpu if you want it to last longer than 3 months. I'd say 65c under load would be safe.
Pteroduck Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 alright thanks ill be aiming for 65c then, any ideas how much i can push my i7?
SpikeSoprano Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 alright thanks ill be aiming for 65c then, any ideas how much i can push my i7? I know they run sometimes about 15 to 20 c hotter at the same clock then the 2600k. When I run mine at 4.4 ghz while gaming it never goes above 63c , so as I've never had a 3770 I'm not sure what a good oc would be, then again I only have a 212 evo for a cooler so thats why I don't run it higher. If you google it I'm sure you'll find a safe oc with in your temp range.
