emperor496 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Hi, I am currently OC'ing my ci7 920, with gigabyte x58 ud4p & corsair dominator ddr3-1600. I have reach 4.0GHz (200x20). It does boot to OS, but crash after few seconds with IntelTestBurn. Liquid cooled, max temp under load 90degC. (still 1 more fan can be installed on the rad) Right now I'm running 190x20 only. Hoping to go at least 200x20. These are my settings: 190x20 CPU Ratio Setting: 20.0BCLK Freq: 200PCIE Freq: 102DRAM Freq: DDR3-1600MHzUCLK Freq: 3600MHzAPI Link Data Rate: AutoCPU Voltage: 1.30vCPU PLL Voltage: 1.80vQPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.34vIOH Voltage: 1.11ICH Voltage: AutoDRAM Voltage: 1.66v I have increase the Vcore to 1.40v(200x20), still crash. While doing test on how high my bclock can go (stabil), I am able to reach 210MHz with QPI/VTT 1.34v. Highest memory stabil clock 1680MHz with DRAM voltage 1.66v. olokul Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Once you get into the 4ghz range you neet to start uping your voltage a lot more.... BUT your saying your cpu is already hitting 90*c, that is not good. You need to keep your temps down in the mid 70's, 80*c is the highest i would go. Also drop your PCIE Freq back down to 100, there is no need to overclock this and most time it will cause issues. As for ram just because your ram might be 8-8-8-24 @ 1600mhz (just a guess) doesnt mean it will run overclocked at those timmings. to get over you the 1680mhz hump you might have to up/loosen your timmings. next thing i noticed is the 200x20. stick to a odd multiplier, 95% of the of the i7's ive seen dont like even multipiers when overclocking. Otherwise, overclock one thing at a time. Otherwise, overclock one thing at a time. Given the fact that the memory controller is on the CPU die, you're going to want to keep your memory at stock when overclocking the CPU and upping it later I did enable turbo mode, but it run buy multiplier 20x on idle.. sometime 21x. Do you mean put the memory on it's stock speed 1600mhz? I start by ramp-up the bclock the see how high my memory can go.. highest I get is 1680mhz.. When I had an 920 20x multi never worked for me, always had to drop it. CPU Ratio Setting: 19.0BCLK Freq: 200PCIE Freq: 100DRAM Freq: DDR3-1600MHzUCLK Freq: 3600MHzAPI Link Data Rate: Auto if you raise the UCLK it will rise the DRAM with it so recheck what it's at now. It may say 1600 but when you click on it, it won't be. probly at 1800 or higher if you started at 1600. try starting at 1066 and than changing the ULCK to 3600. edit: turn off turbo and speed specturm and idle (C State) so it will boot at 4ghz instead idleing than crashing with you stress it to 4.
