stackrainer Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) :SOLVED: Right now on my desk, I have my desktop hooked up to my logitech z623 speakers through my soundcard. I have 2 monitors, one 27 inch shimian without speakers with only a dual link dvi port, the other is a cheap 21 inch acer monitor also without speakers which is hooked to my computer and my 360 through a dvi to hdmi adapter. My problem is that I want some audio for the rare time i use my xbox and right now I dont have any because i dont have any way to play audio. Is there a way i can use the spdif port and convert it to analog for my speakers or can I use the hdmi and convert it over or what? I'm really lost here and if you guys need some pictures ill be glad to send them. :SOLVED: Edited January 11, 2013 by stackrainer
bigball1 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 You just need one of these: http://www.amazon.ca/Extractor-Digital-Converter-De-Embedder-Decoder/dp/B005COKXCO You can also just get one for the SPDIF to RCA too. Cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-AA2SPDIF-Digital-Coaxial-Converter/dp/B0024CV3T4
JBags Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 if that monitor has a vga port, how about something like this? I have a genuine Microsoft one that I used to hook my xbox to my 1080p monitor and Logitech X540 speakers before I got my HDTV
Master Binky Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Jbags' suggestion + the proper under a $1 adapter http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10429 will be the most straightforward way. Or you can get a universal solution with something like http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011410&p_id=8126&seq=1&format=2 with a vga to dvi adapter http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041903&p_id=2397&seq=1&format=2 if you want.
