Xtrememudder89 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 My motherboard is a ACPI-x64 and has PCI E. 2.0 ports. When I have the basic graphics card (AMD HD 7670) it works fine but when I put the my old graphics card (Saphire Radeon HD5870) I get 6 long beeps and a blank screen. I don't know what to do from here. Any help would be delightful.
VaporX Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Did you plug in the PCIe power connector?
Xtrememudder89 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Yes, the two 6-pin connectors were connected.
freddie Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Whats the exact make of your motherboard? The beeps obviously signify something, so best to check the manual where it might send you in the right direction.
Xtrememudder89 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I actually don't know exactly. All it says is ACPI x64-based PC. It's a fully assembled HP desktop, I got the cheapest graphics card cause I thought I could just replace it with the one I have. SpikeSoprano Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 what size psu is in it, could be not enough juice to run that card.
Xtrememudder89 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 It's a 600W psu. Also running a 3.6 GHz i7.
sword_fish Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 what size psu is in it, could be not enough juice to run that card. i think so, your OEM 600w PSU could be enough for 7670 OEM system requirements. now "it might be" struggling with the 5870 which requires 500W of true/continuous power at minimum, no worries if that PC comes with a branded 600W PSU but i doubt it. d6bmg Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 It's a 600W psu. Also running a 3.6 GHz i7. You know, if it OEM PSU, it may not be real 600Watt as rated. So, please post the exact model number of the PSU.

SpikeSoprano Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 From what I could find out about that psu it runs 10 to 18 amps on the 12 volt rails, that Sir is not very impressive for the video card you are trying to run.
