Petition for Texas to peacefully withdraw from the US

While I do not live in texas I have over the last few weeks seen this "redneck" BS thrown around a lot and I find it personally insulting. I AM A REDNECK, born and raised in a rural community. I was baling hay as a summer job at age of 14 and deer hunting with a bow the same year. I learned to drive on dirt country roads and using a stick, my first "car" was a motorcycle that was used more on trails than on roads. My highschool graduating class was 30 and my total school enrollment was about 110, I played football and enjoyed the outdoors, I believe in God, attend church and do not cheat on my woman, never have. I think abortion is wrong, people are responsible for their own actions and the though fo sex with another guy makes me sick. When I was 18 I did my time in the Navy because I love my country and wanted to serve.

I am all redneck. ye t I likely also out geek 99% of the people on this forum. I was involved in DnD when GG was selling the game out of his garage in ziplock bags. I was using a computer and gaming with people in Africa, Canada and England before most of you were born. I have a degree in Literature, and been an avid gamer, computer and otherwise for 35 years plus. I am an avid scifi lover with a pretty deep knowledge of Babylon 5, Start Trek (all versions), Star Wars, Ice and Fire, Dresden Files, The Belgariad, Firefly, Dr. Who and a ton more scifi series that most of you have never heard of.

This bigotry, yes that is the correct word, toward rednecks is DISGUSTING! Rednecks are people that work hard and do not spend time whining that others have more than they do and it should be spread around. A redneck does not spend time telling others to go help the poor, they actually are in the soup kitchens helping. Rednecks not only have a clue what is going on in the world but care, they are informed and up to date, more so than 90% of the rest of the electorate.

So do not tell me you hate using sterotypes when it is obvious you are a bigot when it comes to "rednecks", you also seem ignorant of what it means to be one.

Sorry for the rant but this BS that is spewed about people of faith of that work hard and enjoy the simplier things in life not being "intellectual" drives me nuts. Go play with the Mac toy you paid way to much leave the rest of us alone.

As a fellow "hick" with an IQ of 160 I like this post. :)

Okay I might concede this point though however the traditonal "redneck" up bringing has a stronger emphasis on staying faithful in relationships.

Is there an upbringing which has strong emphasis on cheating? you made some (partially) valid points but that one was pure guff.

What makes the difference and makes the emphasis on staying faithful?

I'm not sure if it's just my family or if it's how people are in Europe, but cheating, divorce, etc doesn't even come up in our conversation as it's not even regarded as something that could or would ever happen.

Bah, highschool in oklahoma focused only on oklahoma history with a smidge of 'there's also other states'. So, not that it's good to ignore the more interesting parts of history I doubt it's uncommon to be so focused in schools. I guess what makes it so unusual is that Texas just decided to save some paper and leave out the stuff they don't cover anyways.

Why do people bash rednecks all the time? It's like blaming the absent kid for everything that went wrong. I swear it just has to be shows on TLC that make people think there are 1,000:1 rednecks everywhere. By definition a redneck has spent most of their life, NOT living in the big cities. So, short of an unknown mass migration into the cities, where are people even being exposed to rednecks?

If anything Texas should withdraw from the US and right afterword pull an Arizona and check people's citizenship, then watch as surrounding states go "WTF?!" with their population increases. (I thought that whole thing was hilarious. There were people on the news "I've lived in this house for 10 years, and now I have to run away because I'm not here legally", yet if I lived in canada for 10 years illegally no one would blink if I got deported).

You know I have been thinking about this position and I am not sure how much is just from my era.

Ask the average conservative redneck about current events and you'll get no more a sensical response as if you asked the average liberal urbanite.

Its all extremes, so few people are willing to compromise, THAT is whats sickening.

Look where the USA is today, if anyone had a damn clue WTF was going on and how to fix it we'd've been there done that.

Andrew, I agree but remember not all compromise is good. Also we know how to fix things but we have a political system that has been rigged so real ideas cannot see the light of day. It is controled by a two party system that only cares about their own political power and a press that has sold out to both sides to keep the status quo.

Heck, I was born and raised until I was 9 years old in Houston. Been in fights since I was 4 against kids twice my age in the shady neighborhoods, then got punished by my dad when I got home. Like I wanted to pick fights with kids twice my age and get beat up, Dad. Good times...

Chill out dude, I guess we have very different terms of REDNECK. What you are describing is a COUNTRY person. Hunting, fishing, living on a farm...that doesn't make you a Redneck. Ignorance, lack of education, racism, et cetra DOES make a person a redneck.

If you haven't noticed, I have lived in FLORIDA for the past 8-9 years. I have a *lot* of experience with Rednecks.

PS: I don't own a single Apple product.
