Joey04 Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Greetings! Can anyone in this forum recommend a good web backup storage service? Preferably somewhere to back up documents and files in case of destroyed or stolen laptop, or broken hard drive? Thanks very much in advance!!! El_Capitan Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Acronis Home True Image 2013 now added monthly subscription based cloud storage for your image files: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/?gclid=CMW1t4L6xLMCFdI7Ogod1XgArw#add-cloud-storage Personally, I prefer to keep all my backups at home on a few other systems for redundancy. Saves money in the long run, and I don't feel my stuff is as secure in the cloud... If you don't want images stored, you can just use Amazon or Google Cloud for those documents and files. I believe you get some amount of storage free just by signing up.
VaporX Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 (edited) I use Skydrive to hold all my office documents and the integration in Windows 8 and Office 2012 is nothing short of amazing. For online backup services I have recommended Mozy to most people, the service has been solid when I have made use of it for clients. There are others as well.and many offer free options for smaller amounts of files. I am personally a big fan of a dual backup solution. I like to use an external HD to backup my data on a bi-weekly basis and then I use my Skydrive synced to my Documents folder for my daily data backup. suchuwato Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 SkyDrive and Google Drive are both great - I use AWS for a ton of stuff including hosting my website and hosting massive video files for clients, but you've got to remember that you get charged by operations as well as bandwidth. kyfire Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Why not just get a web host and then you have full control of your stuff. For instance GoDaddy offers Unlimited storage, Unlimited bandwidth, 50 FTP users, 100 email address', Unlimited MySQL databases (1GB each) and a bunch of other features for $14.99 a month ( on sale right now for $9.99) and they offer discounts for advance payment of 12, 24, 36 months.
