Milan Heyerick Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Hello guys, been a while My friend is looking to build a pc in the future, but he dis not have to much experience whit computer hardware. Its going to be a pc for gaming and he asked me what case he should buy one of these - http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/243697/zalman-gs1000-t-titanium.html#tab:prices - http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/262733/antec-dark-fleet-df85.html#tab:info But he was going on and on about alien ware cases. Are the alien ware pc's any good? and can you buy the case without hardware inside? Milan.
Black64 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) I personally like there laptops and I have one, but there desktops, like there laptops are over priced, but you can easily build a similar one for far cheaper. As for buying just the case, you can't, but you maybe can find one on ebay. Edited October 16, 2012 by Black64
Tjj226_Angel Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Their desktops have actually been crap lately. They used to be an awesome company, but something changed (I don't know what). Now they overcharge like mad, and they don't give a crap about the quality of their parts. The last desktop I had the displeasure of working with had a mini atx 1366 motherboard with SLI. One of the video cards basically over heated and died because the motherboard was designed to JUST barely fit in two GTX 580's for sli, but the owner ended up paying 60 dollars more FOR A REFERENCE CARD that subsequently got no airflow to the very loud blower fan and overheated. Not only that, but the guy who owns the PC ordered 12GB of ram, but instead of putting decent ram into the PC (corsair, crucial, samsung, mushkin, gskill, etc.), Alienware added some like uber cheap crap (I couldn't figure out who made it after several days of research) and charged him about 20 bucks more than what he would have been able to buy on his own from a reputable company. And of course the PSU was crap, the whole layout of the case resembled a HP desktop, and the power button was kind of sticky. I mean everything screamed that no one cared when alienware designed it. Quite frankly, I would do everything in your power to stay the hell away from alienware.

Dell happened, IIRC, and +1 to staying away from Alienware.
Muchoman1 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Dell happened, IIRC, and +1 to staying away from Alienware. +1 to the +1 Build it yourself, or at least get a local PC store to do so, will be much better quality than alienware, and will cost less too

vandreadstriker Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 As for the second question, I don't think you can buy a brand new 'case-only' alieware. Even if you did, I reckon that you'd need a specific board form factor to fit in..
