Hey OCC,

I was just gonna let yall in on my little project that I have going. I decided to take some of my old hardware and make a freenas box.

Stage 1 - Build FreeNAS Server

Turns out I had (6) 250gig hard drives. and (1) 1.5tb external. Currently all of my movies, software, and backup's are on the external. We all know that is a terrible backup medium, so I build a ZFS raid to start moving things to.

Stage 2 - Convert Movies to H.264 / AC3 (going to take 25days to convert all) (thank god for handbrake batch)

stay tuned, going to work on the streaming from the freenas box to the roku's

82 hours later and I am Still not even half way through converting. And look at those nasty CPU temps.... (UGH) (Macs apparently don't have good cooling).

Poor thing, 82 hours of load.

Yeah, I may give it a rest soon. Its been cranking away.

saw this is on distrowatch a few days ago, still in beta?

I believe the distro I installed was non-beta, 8.2.0-Release-p1-x64 (r11950)
