upgrading toaster

Recommended Posts

actually screw that, not paying $100 bucks for something i dont want.

will add another ~450 and get a 3820 + x79 mobo. my 955 is getting on a bit..

so it comes down to:

Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3

or

ASROCK X79 EXTRME4

Asus M5A99X evo

Asus sabertooth 990fx r2

are also good.

the m5a99x evo wasnt in stock and they're not ordering anymore, the r2 version was but had 2 less sata ports.

the sabertooth is pricey.

----------------

moving over to x79 is probably the best way to go. had a good run with amd.

^^ Choice seems to be good, but only one 'not so good' part: 3820 is partially locked processor. So you can't overclock it much.

Heck i could have explained to you how to overclock the locked i7 3820 and that with an Intel dx79 series mobo. You will have spent less then i would have. Lol and likely get a better overclock.

It wasn't really about the locked 3820, the stock clocks would have been fine by me.

Other upgrades left me short of coin, can still get a 8350 down the line though so no biggy..
