Time for this weeks OCC Poll.

This week we want to know when you purchase your next Hard Drive, for a main system or other system, what is it going to be? A mechanical drive (HDD) or a solid state drive (SSD)?

Don't plan on getting either. If one croaks (heaven forbid) I'll replace it with what I have at the moment.

SSDs are still too expensive to consider them as storage devices. Even at 200$ for a 256 GB drive, for a person like me who needs around 12 TB for media storage it is a pocket burner.

So its basically both

SSD if my SSD(s) fail: I'm happy with all the capacity SSDs I have in service, the speed differences with "upgrading" to a newer one would be hardly justified with real world performance. Not to mention my SSD in my desktop is being bottlenecked by its motherboard only supporting SATA 2 so just upgrading that aspect will breathe new life into existing components.

or

HDD if my HDD(s) fail: I'm getting better with not saving so much crap on my storage drives so I may not need bigger drives for a bit, especially with prices still a little more then they used to be. 3TB for under $100 and MAYBE we'll talk....but probably not until my 2TB dies)

100 GB SSD is not as expensive as 1 year ago and is good enough for C if you keep games on D. but of course too expensive for all storage.
