Clockwork Empires

Gaslamp Games, the developer behind Dungeons of Dredmor, has announced Clockwork Empires, a steampunk city-builder.

 

Clockwork Empires is a sandbox game that sees you colonizing a new land and running a city. Buildings are procedurally generated in the 3D engine, so you are able to craft whatever you like. Cities can be filled with all manner of people, including mad scientists bent on summoning monsters. There is no set victory condition as you simply play however you like, but there will be plenty of things hellbent on your city's destruction. Like Dredmor, failing will be fun and simply adds to your enjoyment and narrative experience. Maybe a plague wipes out the population or factory workers go on a rampage or maybe even an Elder God is summoned to lay waste to it all.

Aside from the concept art header image, the rest of it does not look steampunky at all and way too cartoony.

 

That being said, I love Dungeons of Dredmor, so I'm not wiling to right this off so quickly.
