don't really know what to do. had this headset for maybe 2 or more years. not a problem. actually one: ears begin sweating under the pleather ear coverings. a few days ago took em off and noticed a rip in one of the pleather coverings (which is of course getting bigger with time). what should I do? don't really want to superglue it (as one dude suggested) as the pleather is so thin - I'm thinking it would dissolve? I could buy replacement earpieces but so far found no compatible ones (maybe you guys know more about this and can point me somewhere usefull). another guy I saw on google just completely ripped off all the pleather and continued using the headset without it. I really don't want to do this either cuz I'm thinking then it would look crappy? so plz guys make me understand...

My brother has a G930 and that happened to his pretty quick. I'm on my second G35, and I've been using them for over a year and I haven't had that yet. :/ I'm gonna RMA mine though, the microphone is all floppy and loose.

Not to mean but that looks like CRAP. Not only that but it also looks like it wouldn't hold up any better than the torn up set.

I can't say I have much a better idea but I'm guessing some kind of replacement vinyl or something if you're that willing to tear it all apart carefully and what not...I'll be interested to see some other solutions. Good thread OP.

Okay I wouldn't go so far as to say that looks like crap, but I would certainly think it. A VERY big amount of work for no return; meaning I (and he) might have gotten along with just the foam ear pads at the very most. At worst, the operation was fruitless.

Today looking at the thing again, I saw that no pleather pieces were actually missing. They are torn, yes, but still attached. So instead of using glue (as my friend suggested) I am thinking of taking a small piece of tape, turning it sticky side up, and enclosing the ripped parts of the pleather over it, as it were.

The idea is so simple, it might just work.

p.S. as far as Logitech goes, they are bastards. The warranty is one year and the thing desintigrated in one and a half!

Is it really only a year? I had mine warrantied after a year if I remember correctly. All you have to do is complain on the phone and logitech will bend over backwards for you. I called about my G11 keyboard the other day and they sent me a brand new G110 and even let me keep the G11! I've had that keyboard way longer than 3 years, so I'm not too sure about the 1 year warranty thing.

What Onion said.

I would call and complain. I would say you looked online and found many others with the same problem, including on their own forums. Since they do not have replacment ear pads for sale then they should go above and beyond their warranty policy.

If that didn't work, I'd probably just cut off the extra pleather and use as is. But that's me and I realize that. :P

You could use some black Sugru (self-setting rubber). I find it useful to fix/make awesome lots of random stuff. It's worth checking out, sugru.com. I ordered some more black/white minipacks just last week and they threw in a color pack free which i was pleasantly surprised since that basically doubled my order for free. Ugh, I really don't know how to make that sound NOT like an advertisement but it is definitely worth checking out.
