_TheAlexO Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 My HD5850, while a good card, is getting a old. Time for an upgrade. Going to be piecing together a completely new build in the next few months, but right now I'm starting with the GPU Might be ordering as quickly as tomorrow morning before I head out of town for a few days. I'm sticking with a single card. I'm leaning towards the green team, but I haven't made up my mind. Would like to stick to my ~$400 budget. EVGA FTW GTX670 Sapphire HD7970 Is the 7970 worth the extra $$? I like the 3gb on the AMD but the free Borderlands 2 with that 670 might just put it over the edge for me. That's a real good deal. But I want the fastest card available to me so. Thoughts? Any other cards I should be looking at?
El_Capitan Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 The GTX 670 will do wonders all-around. The HD 7970 is a monster if you're going to overclock to its fullest. Not a bad choice either way. I'd pick the GTX 670 if it were my decision.
bp9801 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I thought you were for sure going with the GTX 670? Regardless, I'd still choose it. Especially with the free Borderlands 2 copy.

I thought I was. I looked at the 7970 a bit and was having second thoughts. But The 670 seems better for the games I've been playing. I like that 3gb though

I like how the EVGA FTW is priced the same as the regular one. 1000+mhz stock is nice.
