$800 - $1,000 PC

Recommended Posts

Hi OCC, I've got most of the stuff figured out for this build, but I haven't kept up with processors so much, and I was wondering what could be a good memory and motherboard combination with the Core i5 3570K? Microcenter has a sick deal for this processor.

Get a Gigiabyte Z77X-UD3H and put on 8 or 16 gig of Kingston HyperX and never look back. Both BTW are available at Microcenter at GREAT prices, enjoy... one stop shopping on this one.

Memory go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231416

its 2x4GB CL9 1600Mhz for 40.99 free shipping

and motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131837

its ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77

asus make top quality boards with the best bios and fan controls it's only 119.99 with rebate

total of $161 which leaves you $839 for the rest.

i5-3570k + gtx 670 + 120GB SSD + 1TB HDD you'll be at about 1000 right there but still need case and psu so you'd have to go to around 1150 but it would be a good budget gamer.

If you need a cheap, yet well performing board, go with the asrock extreme 4.

If you can afford a better board, but still don't have a ton of cash, than pick up the most expensive gigabyte board you can reasonably afford.

If you can get a higher end board, then you can get the asus saber tooth board, or if you perfer to overclock and don't mind mATX form factor mobos, you can get the maximus v gene.

What's your budget?

If you have ~$200 to spend on the board, get the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H or ASUS P8Z77-V Pro. Both great performing board but the UD5H carries lots of features for a very nice price.

If you have less than ~$150 to spend, I'd go with TJ and recommend the ASrock Z77 Extreme4

For RAMs, get any 8GB 1600Mhz CL9 modules and you're pretty much set to go. My pick would be the G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB Kit. One of the cheapest modules I can find. (Vengeance cost ~$2-4 more but same spec)

Just my advice: Get your board and RAM from Newegg instead of Microcenter. Microcenter only have good prices on CPUs. Plus you get a 1 year free warranty for your board at Newegg.

Get the best board the combo allows. Everyone has their preferences on boards. At this point it really comes down to feature set. As for memory it really depends on what you want in terms of capacity and speed. A good solid 2133Mhz 16GB kit will meet all your needs.

Out of curiosity, why 2133mhz?

Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144560 16GB for $75, uh. DO IT.

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293 I see no reason, whatsoever, to spend more. This board is amazing for the money

Got the mobo, but picked up some cheaper 8GB memory. Thanks IVI <3
