Took my car into FireStone today.....

Recommended Posts

Well I took my car into firestone today and I had setup a 1:30PM appointment 5 days in advance. When I arrived I was told my appointment would not be honored and I would have to wait 3 hours it I wanted to get my car serviced. :whoa: I told them that it was unacceptable and they just told me "well oh well then". Well it was my first and last time I will ever go there. It's strange because I hear that firestone is great but I don't see it. I guess I will pay a litte more by going to the dealer, but at least I get treated with respect there. Now that I think of it, I don't know of any other place that has not honored an appointment until firestone.

:mfp: Well thanks to firestone, I wasted an hour and a half of my Saturday. (Firestone is a 45min drive one way for me)   IMO I would avoid them, very rude not to honor an appointment in my book.

EDIT: Update on my second post.

Let them know that you're going to contact the BBB and see if they start caring about you. Most Firestone locations are BBB accredited. At the very least you can get a little revenge.

I was thinking about doing that, but I submitted a complaint on there website and I got a call from the store manager, who apologized, then from a regional manager who also apologized to me and then the store manager called me back (all of this with-in an hour of filling the complaint) and told me I could get my car done for free and reschedule next saturday. So I am very impressed and I will be going back for a second try. So we will see how that works out. That is the best customer service I have ever seen, especially on a saturday! :woot:

BBB accredited places bend over backwards to keep that accreditation. I have filed only one complaint with the BBB and that was against ecost.com which I will never buy from again.

At least it's not as bad as the time I took my lowered Mustang in to Tires Plus, and they completely screwed up my car. They dented the headers, caused the exhaust to blow, jacked the car up on the pinch welds, AND on top of that, scraped the bumper getting it up on the lift. Oh, and they ordered the wrong tire size. I asked for a 285, they got me a 275.

I use Firestone all the time for almost everything. But I don't make appointments, I just drop my car off and either wait or go eat/shop until it's ready.

Ordering wrong parts happens all the time. There are more cogs in the wheel than you would think.

Taking modified cars to shops that cannot handle them is a fail on the consumers part.

So am I supposed to install the tire myself? :teehee:

I can't get them aligned at my house, either.

Also, I told them to use wood planks before it got up on the alignment machine. They went against my advice, and didn't do it and it scraped. They also slammed the exhaust onto the lift, and then jacked it up on the pinch welds. It doesn't matter that it was modified or not, you don't jack a car up on the pinch welds.

I used to work for Firestone, till the manager wanted to get in my face and fight over a misunderstanding on his end. When I quit he wanted me to fill out a quitting form I and I refused as I did not want to incriminate the company or him.... Trying to be a nice guy right. I then told him I needed my final pay check on our payday and he refused to give it to me until i filled out the form... I explained to him that it is against the law for him to withhold my paycheck and he didn't seem to care. OOPS. There is a little third party whistle blowing line you can call that they give you upon employment start. so I did. Next morning the Regional director called me for an explanation and I explained why I quit and that the manager of that Firestone Threatened me with bodily harm and was unlawfully withholding my payment. I got my manager in serious trouble (part of the reason he got fired) and Got my paycheck that day as the regional director was Chewing him up one side and down the other.

getting payed to little, sucks

having to work in 100' heat, sucks

Helping Idiots Make there own bed then put them in it.... Worth it all.

You take it to a shop that can handle those kinds of requests and cars, not your local tire and auto chain. It just is not gonna happen. Take it to the specialized shops that will take care of your car even though it may cost more to get the work done. When you go to a chain operation you get low dollar entry level mechanics for the most part.

Our local shops don't do alignments, and most don't do tire installs. That, and to order a tire (which is cheaper with Tires Plus), I had to have them install it. Otherwise I had to spend 150 more on the tires + shipping and then take them somewhere else.

Instead you got a busted car. Was it worth it?
