Tow, welcome to the OCC forums. To build on Waco's post, many of us here at OCC are on PDT, CDT, EDT, MDT etc. so it was very very early for many of us when you first posted.

At any rate, for us to help properly trouble shoot your problem we need information about your hardware. We have no idea what your new video card is (although we know that you were previously running a 9800), we have no idea what motherboard you have, we have no idea what power supply you have, we have no idea what the BIOS revision level is on your motherboard, we have no idea what cpu you have............. etc. and on and on. Please provide your system specs and we can go from there.

I have had this problem with other computers before. I too tried to fiddle around with the drivers, but really the most direct way to solve the issue is to do a clean install of the OS and all the drivers. If it doesn't work, it is probably your RAM or your BIOS.

Doing a clean install of the OS and all the drivers is what fixed my issue. If I am not mistaken you have an older mobo, so it could just be that you need a BIOS update to improve compatibility with your new GPU?

If nothing else, RAM likes to cause all sorts of weird problems. :whistling:

If it won't shut down properly the power settings in the BIOS may be messed up. I don't recall which one it is, but there's one that will prevent soft shutdowns...
