philzor Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Does anyone have tips on how to safely remove the heat spreaders? I've tried heating them up, but don't want to go too hot and damage the ICs.Tips or tricks?I want to use another cooling solution. ccokeman Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 If you have the Ridgeback heat shields then there are screws you loosen up to take each side off. But be advised your warranty is void at that point. On the Frostbyte heat shields a bit of heat works well but I usually do not pull them off you have to supply enough to heat soak the thermal tape so it will slide off. Again warranty concerns come into play here.
