GTX 470, EVGA Vs Zotac, Price DIf, ?

Recommended Posts

I just finished ordering my new build with an I7-3960X and am going to move my EVGA GTX 470 which I paid $300 for almost 2yrs ago, and am very confused after just searching Amazon and Google for prices for possibly a used one so I could have SLI for cheap til I can afford to get one of the 600 series cards.

On amazon, Im seeing 2 Instances of the Zotac GTX 470 going for $400 to $450 for 1 card, how is it that these are going for more than they did 2yrs ago and considering its been discontinued.

On a side note, I can get any other brand to do SLI with my Evga GTX 470 right, doesn't have to be the same brand if i remember right, and If say one was overclocked to a higher setting it would just run them at whichever was the lowest speed to equal it out.

Ya I saw an EVGA 470 for 58 with shipping a week back, I'm just curious why its listed at $400 at some places online, makes no sense, but I just got all my parts for my X79 LGA2011 build bought no more than an hour ago, so I'll be sticking with my 1 GTX 470 for a little bit longer, That cards a fricken beast anyways!

Well I have an 850W XION PSU that has been discontinued and dont wanna risk it in the new system I just ordered today, So i got the PC Power and Cooling Silencer MK II 750W and have already checked, it can handle 2 GTX 470's, but Ill only get another one if i can find one cheap, I want to get the GTX 670, my gtx 470 still plays every game that comes out, and once I put that bad boy in with my X79 motherboard and I7-3960x, shes gonna run like a fricken stallion, lol

Duno why you didn't get a seasonic or corsair like everyone said. PowerPC is alright but no where near as good as they use to be since they got bought out a few years ago. It's going to be WAAAY better than that cheapo XION but there is still better brands out there that is the same price as that PowerPC

I was going to get the Corsair TX750 V2, they, but Tjj226_Angel and Wevspot, and Wevspot has been highly regarded by many people that I've talked to here, and they both have spent many hours a day for the past week looking over my system build and I trust Wevspot's decision to get the PC Power and Cooling Silencer MK II, now I ordered It today and they don't open til Monday, so I'm sure that IF I really needed to switch the PSU I could.

We were discussing between these 2 PSU's mainly

1. PC & P Silencer MK II 750W

2. CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2

Yeah PC Power and Cooling blow everyone away with the price of their new 750W Silencer units!! 80+ Silver Certified and cheaper then alot of other companies 650W (Bronze units at best), not to mention 7 year warranty, and from how awesome my Silencer 1 has been, you KNOW they've earned my business a second time.

This all being said, I'd imagine you couldn't really overclock the cards too much or CPU and the cards. my 5970 overclocked could start approaching my comfort level and two 470s would suck more power then two 5870 cores.

Ah, well I would trust wevspot also, it must be a good psu model than

....gee thanks.

It actually has a single 12v rail, 80 plus silver (over the 80 plus bronze the corsair one had), and overall it was just better for less money. The power and cooling PSU was my recommendation over the corsair PSU simply because it was a better PSU for the money. If it weren't for the fact that corsair likes to overcharge, then it might have been a different story.
