Keep us posted M8. Same potential problem with different densities when comparing a 2Gb stick to a 4Gb stick. Think of the PCB as real estate. How many ICs do you need to cram onto a single PCB to achieve 2Gb capacity versus cramming the same sized PCB with enough ICs to achieve 4Gb capacity.

 

While that is a potential cause, I'm really leaning more towards a conflict with the hardware. First thing I'd do is make sure that onboard audio is disabled (as recommended by posters above). If that fails to rectify the problem then I would remove the Creative card, re-enable onboard sound and test again. If either of those fails to correct the problem then you can move onto more drastic measures.
