greengiant912 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 So anyone buy into this yet? What do you think is it worth it? Way I figure, it is 4 DLC packs which are usually around $12-15...
WhenKittensATK Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) If you're going to stick around BF3 for a long time, its definitely worth it. Just note that the last DLC is set to release March 2013. Petition to reduce price of BF3 Premium if you already own certain DLC packs. BF3 Premium Costs $50 (one-time payment) 5x DLC (valued at $15 each) Videos Reset Stats Extra Dog Tags In-Game Content (solider/weapon camos and a new melee knife) Exclusive Events (like double XP) Strategy Guides New Assignments Queue Priority More Platoon Emblem Customization and etc. =========================================================== Non-Premium Costs $75 ($60 with already owned B2K DLC) 4-5x DLC Nothing else Edited June 8, 2012 by AZNguyen
andre21 Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 don't you think it's too much for this game. I play this game before. I didn't find anything new in it. it's all edited version.
ir_cow Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 i'm gonna pass, i only put 27 hours in and i feel once i hit level 45 i'll never play this game again. At lest it is not COD where they want $50 a year and when you don't renew you lose all the DLC. This is like a season pass, instead of $30 it's $
rourkchris Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I've found that the new weapons have already breathed some new life into the game. Looking forward to the close quarters maps. For me it was completely worth it and I'm happy to see scheduled map updates along with new weapons and vehicles. I could do without the double XP weekend events as points don't mean anything once you rank up completely. The double XP weekends remind me too much of COD. The new knife to me is just silly as well. It stabs and cuts just like the last one but has a different color scheme. I like the extra dogtags but I'm shallow that way I guess. ClayMeow Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I'm not a Battlefield person, but I think the pricing and what you get for it is very valid and a lot better than I expected when the Premium rumors first started floating around. I'd say, if you're a BF3 player with even the slightest intention of sticking around, $50 is well worth the price for what you'll get out of it. TheyCallMeGunny Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 (edited) "Afterall, B2K owners REALLY ARE the most likely customer basis to buy Premium. The rest didn't put out $15, do you honestly think a large majority of them will put out $50 now? If you do, you have a shotty sense of statistics and social trend prediction." The best way to predict behavior and decision making is to look at past examples. Most who didn't buy B2K won't buy Premium. Of those who bought B2K, only a portion will buy Premium. Most likely, the entire basis of customers who don't pay bills will buy Premium. But that still leaves more than half of the existing customers in the equation. Let's do a little math, and assume that 25% more people would purchase Premium if the discount was offered, then compare that to full price at half customers. We'll start the equation with an estimated total customer base of 50 million, with only half of them buying Premium at the discount rate: Let's say with the discount, half of the total customer base buys Premium: 25,000,000 x $40= $1,000,000,000 Now let's assume they only get 75% of the sales by maintaining full price (very reasonable statistic, actually somewhat generously high): 18,750,000 x $50= $937,500,000 Difference? A profit of $62,500,000 in this simulation by offering the discount for Karkand players: and that's assuming ONLY Karkand owners buy Premium, as I didn't use a single $50 rate in that equation. Which means the profit gain would actually be a MUCH higher ratio including the non-Karkand players who would still buy premium. But hey, if you want to waste money, go ahead. Without the discount DICE, EA, and consumers ALL lose out equally lol. I wonder why EA can't figure this one out on their own. Odds are they'll probably lower the price of Premium in a few months after the suckers have all spent. ClayMeow Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I completely disagree with your assessment, dragon. Although obviously I can understand current DLC-buyers wanting a discount, I think the Premium price tag is still very good for what you get. Despite their complaining, I'm pretty sure anyone that's already bought a DLC and is thus committed to the game will likely buy Premium, so there's very little incentive for EA to drop the price. WhenKittensATK Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I don't think it will make too much of a difference. I already seen a lot of B2K players buy premium. I would buy it now too, if I still played BF3 regularly.
RedFury77 Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I really HATE the idea of premium. It really rubs me the wrong way just like COD Elite did. I think a pre-order discount for future expansions is one thing, but selling out better weapons and extra xp really just screws the somewhat 'level' playing field the game had. I haven't bought it yet, but I guess I will just to keep up with the game. I did hear gamestop or someplace was selling premium for just $25, now that would be a much easier buy. Ugh, the top BF3 players use the M16 still lol. Yea so DLC weapons are still fair game against release weapons. Double exp is meh, everyone is going to hit max rank anyways. I hit it a very very long time ago (90H played with Rank 47 - Colonel 2, doesn't take very long). DICE also balances the weapons, they just released a big balance patch before E3. You can get it for ~$25 if you use a proxy in India or Brazil. Not sure if it still works, gonna try. Update: They seemed to have fixed it. BR price is now equal to $50 USD and can't even click Checkout on Indian site. Edited June 9, 2012 by AZNguyen

CoD Elite is an annual subscription, this is a one-time fee. It IS basically a pre-order for all the DLC, and they're giving you not only a discount, but a few extra goodies - is it really any different than pre-order bonuses for full games? If a player plans on getting all the DLC, then this is a great deal for them. That is who it's for - the dedicated BF3 player, not your casual player.
