Annoying adset

Been getting a few of these lately and they're quite annoying, I'm guessing it's not just me! I'll click on a topic on the home page, and then all of the sudden the soundtrack for the ad starts blaring from the home page in the background.

Use NoScript.

 

Seriously though, I haven't noticed any of the popup ads when I use IE on occasion or the Steam browser. When I get them on other sites I usually just refresh the page or minimize the ad.

I brought this up because I thought I remembered seeing somewhere that we didn't want these type of ads on OCC or at least frowned upon them, but I might be wrong.

Video ads like that are the only reason i started using adblock, as now i have loud speakers, and for some reason game sounds are always quieter than music/other, so with my speakers at game volume, video ads were deafening

I had the same Crap until I put adblocker Plus on my Firefox Browser. Put it on there and it shall end your Troubles my Friend.

Lately I'm also forced to use adblock plus in OCC because of this kind of ads, but I also feel that it is not good for the site as ads are important to gain revenue & running this site with its expenses.

For me its the noise. navigating over to my friendly OCC page now has a huge and very loud ad to let everybody at work know I'm goofing off...thanks a lot.

 

I don't mind ads, I know it's how the internet makes money, but the noise is terrible.

You guys know you have total control over how Adblock Plus works right?

 

You can simply block the specific offending ads and the less bothersome ads you could still allow to show up. This is one of the reasons I love Adblock Plus, it allows you to block anything and you can be as vague or specific as you want with what you block, could be an entire site, could be just a certain page on a site, could be a specific ad.

Its better to mute speakers or use headphone while surfing.
