Hello :D

Well it's pretty obvious I'm new here.(Account-wise anyway). I love computers and have finally been allowed to build my own rig. I chose an AMD based System due to price performance, so as to not piss my parents off with a huge Intel price tag. haha. Anyways as of right now it's kind of well...dead. My FX-8120 died with less than a couple hours of use on it currently getting it replaced.

So my system is

Mobo: Asus M5A97

Processor: AMD FX-8120

PSU: 650W Corsair Enthusiast Edition

RAM: 16 GB Corsair XMS3 1333Mhz

Graphics: Radeon HD 6850

Case: Thermaltake Commander Snow

Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212

Just wondering should I crossfire 2 6850s or just leave it as a single 6850?

I look forward to being here.

Welcome to OCC :)

As for Crossfire, I guess it depends on what you are doing. What resolution are you playing at? Are you having issues gaming now?

Welcome to OCC! I'd stick with a single card unless you really want better performance (though even a single 6850 is quite powerful).

CrossfireX with 2 HD6850 would be quite powerful but Crossfire has lots of issues with many games.

It's up to you though to stay with 1 bad boy or bring his twin brother to form the pack.

As for wanting crossfire or not , I believe Bosco was spot on. No reason to get crossfire if your resolution is too low. You could away's just get a second card down the line anyway.

AMD FX-8120 died? My buddy that just built a new AMD PC with a FX-8150 had the CPU die within 2 reboots... Seems like their latest CPU's have had slight some manufacturing flaws.

Welcome!

I would just stay with the single 6850 unless you are wanting more performance/fps out of your current setup. If games don't appear playable to you, whether they are choppy or sluggish, you should consider adding another 6850. Just make sure that other people have not had lots of problems with crossfire and the games you play.

As of right now my processor is in RMA. I have a 1920x1080 resolution. So I have no idea...
