Need help OC'ing!

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I'm fairly new to overclocking so could anyone offer me some help here?

AMD Athlon II x4 640

--- Cooled by Corsair H50**

GEIL DDR3-1333mhz 2gb Ram

Nanya Technology DDR3-1333 2gb

(is it really bad that the two sticks of ram are different makes?)

Asus HD 6850

Asus M4A78LT-M LE Motherboard

All set up in a CM Storm Enforcer Case

*I hope this is in enough detail

** The radiator is fitted at the back of the case with air being drawn in from outside the case. not sure if that's important though, some people say it means it has cooler air going over it but the ambient temperature of the PC is really low, at least for now...

Details of my first OC attempt:

Brought CPU mobo clock speed up from 200 to 225 mhz

Took CPU voltage to 1.3v (This very website said that it could go to 1.44v under watercooling, but apart from not needing that much (I don't think) yet, I'm also not sure if the H50 counts as "proper" watercooling...)

Put +0.03v to Chip and Memory

Capped Mem clock speed to 667mhz (the motherboard won't let me adjust the multiplier myself)

Boots properly but crashes after roughly 30sec-1min

Thanks in advance to any who help!
