God Of Gaming Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Looking at that, it would seem it's better to keep using Sandy Bridge until new steppings are released for Ivy

greengiant912 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 (edited) IB...making people glad they went with SB and didn't wait since 4/23/2012 Yeah I ended up buying a SB instead of waiting... You gotta remember that this is the first chip to come off the line... I am sure that the future chips will show the performance everyone was hoping for... Waco Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Well this is interesting! http://www.overclockers.com/ivy-bridge-temperatures Apparently Intel is using thermal paste under the heatspreader instead of solder. Quick! Someone pop the lid off of a 3770K and overclock the beast!
Tjj226_Angel Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Well this is interesting! http://www.overclockers.com/ivy-bridge-temperatures Apparently Intel is using thermal paste under the heatspreader instead of solder. Quick! Someone pop the lid off of a 3770K and overclock the beast! Dear Intel, Why? Sincerely Tjj226_Angel Any chance you guys think that this is only an issue with the engineering samples, and that the consumer stuff is going to be soldered??? Waco Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I was under the impression that the samples reviewers got were retail.
vandreadstriker Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I was under the impression that the samples reviewers got were retail. Don't they usually get Engineering Samples instead of Retail? Any chance you guys think that this is only an issue with the engineering samples, and that the consumer stuff is going to be soldered??? If you watch this, you'll notice how he mention that he asked a couple of retailers and the results are the same or higher temps. Waco Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Don't they usually get Engineering Samples instead of Retail? Sometimes, but the pictures in the review have retail markings.
ccokeman Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I was under the impression that the samples reviewers got were retail. Not always. I have gotten a couple but most are ES chips.
Waco Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Not always. I have gotten a couple but most are ES chips. I meant for this round of chips. Didn't everyone get retail 3770s?
