gravy Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 I am planning on mounting two fans to my side panel soon. I have seen many cases that have them installed at the very bottom right next to each other. If you have fans on the side of your case, where are they? I know I am going to mount one blowing direstly on the video card, but, I wonder if I should mount the other next to it, or higher, blowing directly on the HSF on the CPU? suggestions please
Nuclear Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 I would do put them one on top another. that way you can have one blowing on your vid card and one on the CPU. What size fans BTW?
gravy Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 i ordered two 80mm uv ccfl fans
Nuclear Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 cool. I had a case with 2 120MM fans on the side, side-by side. One of them worked really well for cooling the video card, but the other was kinda pointless. it was just blowing into empty space. gravy Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 yeah, ive got one 120mm fan i mounted in the top for a blowhole and it is soooooo loud compared to anything else I have running, and there's 8 other fans running in there now i cant imagine what it would sound like if there were two of those things running, wow, i would have to sound proof my computer room, heck, even with the door shut now you can hear it from my bedroom, humming away
Nuclear Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 I've got the 120MM blowhole in all of my H2O and air rigs, works really well. Back when my 2.8c was air-cooled, I had like 7 case fans, it was so loud that it got un-bearable. Now I like the low hum of water and a compressor
gravy Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 yeah, air cooling does what I need it to, and it would be hard to convince the wife that it is better to have that tub of water and hoses running everywhere <_< she already thinks i am a geek because of how i am always oc'ing, tweaking, and buying new stuff ! ok, i am a geek
Nuclear Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 My gf doesn't understand the whole machII or water-cooling. She picked on me for like 6 months about the whole thing. Cool thing is that I get paid to say I'm a computer nerd, at least 8HRS a day.

Cool thing is that I get paid to say I'm a computer nerd, at least 8HRS a day. not like i am worried about people thinking i am a geek, cause i am, and im proud of what i have learned and accomplished and what i will do down he road people should look at water cooling like it was with cars, they were air cooled, till our desire for more power, made more heat, then came water cooled engines, best thing they ever did, i think it will become a standard in a few more years, unless they figure out how to make a 5Ghz CPU run with very low power consumption, but, they cant make a Mustang run on air cooling yet can they? lol
tbone2sk Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 then if they have water cooling become the standard then what would people do if they wanted to go to a LAN party with a water cooled system, u have to checks the pipes and it is a pain
gravy Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 ok so this is all hypothetical, but, lan partys could have a central tank of fluid and a pump and water lines ran to each computer right along with the cat-5 cables there will be a industry standard in water cooling where all hoses and their fittings would all be standardized and have reliable quick connect fittings so this way you dont have to carry a resovoir, pump, etc....just take your rig, plug in all the necessary things and go if by checking the pipes you mean purging the air out, thats no biggie just imagine it...... tbone2sk Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 that would be crazy and it would take a huge pump and i huge tank of water but it would the the coolest thing, but the water in the pipes would be very hot from all those computers.
