greengiant912 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) I am not really going to complain here, just wanted to state something that doesn't make much sense to me... I have some packages that I ordered and they are coming Fedex ground, which is 3-5 days. The package shipped from a town in IL about 90 miles from my house (2 hour drive about). The package went to the sorting facility in Indy (5 hours from my house), and got on a truck to be shipped to Milwaukee (25ish minutes from my house). The package got at the Destination sort facility yesterday (2/18, in Milwaukee) and has been there since. It shipped last Friday. Now my logic would be that they would of put it on a truck that was coming toward my town (as there is a fedex (dispatch) about 5 minutes from my house), as they have trucks coming to the facility in my town everyday (as it is a pretty big dispatch center for putting the packages on individual vehicles for delivery.) To me having something sit on a shelf rather than have it delivered seems to be a waste of space, especially in logistics. If you can get the package delivered sooner then you should! The estimated delivery says it is for 2/22... which is Wednesday... I mean I understand I only paid for ground, but the package was close enough that I could of driven down and gotten it in 2 hours (4 hours total), instead of waiting 5 days... Sometimes shipping companies make no sense. They could of put it on a truck to Milwaukee instead of shipping it to Indy (granted their major hub is likely in Indy, which is understandable). I just don't see any reason why I shouldn't of gotten the package today or even tomorrow... Especially since they have packages coming this way anyways... Why have it just sit there? http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?cntry_code=US&language=EN&tracknumbers=519114485424&action=track Anyways anyone think I will recieve it tomorrow or do you think Fedex will actually hold out and deliver it on Wednesday? Black64 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I am waiting for a package (my new case) to come from Redmond WA, UPS says 7 days. Tracking says it will get here by Thursday.

Thats why I always ship or have items shipped with UPS. This time however I didn't have a choice UPS has always be extra good with ground service for me, getting it here sometimes the 2nd day... FedEx has always has been kinda half arsed on what they do... They would rather have something sit in the truck for two days rather than getting it out to the customer... btw these are my new dell IPS monitors Edited February 21, 2012 by greengiant912
ccokeman Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 You paid for a level of service and they will deliver against that expectation rather than what makes sense. If it gets there "On Time" then they can say they delivered it as requested. Kind of like the route management software I have at work. Its more about delivering against an expectation than delivering it sooner than expected if that makes sense.

Its more about delivering against an expectation than delivering it sooner than expected if that makes sense. That's the thing, I paid for 3-5 day shipping. UPS has always been constant with shipping to me before the 5 day period (99% of the time getting here on the third day, the other 1% is usually here within the 2nd day or 4th day...) I have never had a UPS package take longer than 4 days... I understand why they put that range due to weather conditions and what not, but I have had packages come from across the country faster than this one who originated 90 miles from me... /shrug, its not a real big deal... I just think that its kinda ironic that they would waste space storing my packages for 2 days... Its a shame I can't just go pick them up as it is only 20 minutes away, its still freaking stuck at the sort facility here in Milwaukee... :-\ Dose FedEx have an obligation to get it to me before than? Heck no as your right I paid for the 3-5 day... As a business and wanting to keep customer satisfaction high they should strive for faster handling time... Just my thought...
bishop245 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Fed ex is very bad about not delivering til the final day of their shipping schedule. USPS is slowest Fedex is ok but loves to show up at the last minute of the final date. UPS just gets it there usually the fastest from my own experience. Dallas to Oklahoma city via ups ground is 1 day, but fedex ground is 3+ go figure.

Waco Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 That's better than my tires...I ordered them with 2 day shipping LAST TUESDAY. I still don't have them and Amazon didn't provide me with a tracking number. The projected delivery date is tomorrow. How exactly is that 2 day shipping when they were marked as shipped the night I ordered them?

DanTheGamer11 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 They more than likely have to deliver what came in before it...
greengiant912 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Well I called them up and told them that it didn't make much sense and they were able to get it out to me today just got them about an hour ago
Silas13013 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 FedEx kept a package I ordered in their shipping center for 8 days before delivering it to me. I didn't need the item in question imitatively so I didn't complain, but at least in my experience, FedEx tends to do that a lot.
