caffeinejunkie Posted February 11, 2004 Posted February 11, 2004 For internet no. Not many people will ever need to use a full 10mgbs connection for the internet. For networking you will see a very nice speed increase if both comps have the cards. it's like with memory if you have one stick of pc4000 and one of pc2700 it will run at pc2700. Gigabyte lan cards are a waste since pci speeds aren't even high enough to use all of the bandwith.
Cyberbeer Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 If your internet connection is only rated at 1.5 mega bits per second then the biggest Ethernet card will never help . On a network like the other guy said, you will be screaming but only if your connecting to another computer with the same speed card. Psywar Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 not to mention the fact. if ur router, switch, hub is only 10/100 it wont use the 1000 anyways..
