momosmokey Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) I do not know what happened, but I'm experiencing a 10 FPS performance drop in 3D applications. Metro 2033 Benchmark I used to average 30-33 FPS. I'm now averaging 20-23 FPS. Unigine Benchmark ( W/ 8x MSAA + 16x Anastropic) I used to average 25-24 FPS in the very first scene. I know average 15-14. I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers several times and tried both the 290.53 and 295.51 beta drivers. I've tried uninstalling in safe mode before re-installing. I've tried using driver sweeper before re-installing. Still runs the same. I'm at a loss at what to do. I hope you guys can help. Thanks Edited February 13, 2012 by momosmokey

bp9801 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Sorry, I forgot I haven't put it in my siggy yet. It's an MSI GTX 560 Ti HAWK. Have you tried to disable the integrated graphics from within BIOS? If your motherboard is the same as the one in the sig, try to disable the integrated graphics to see if there could be a conflict. momosmokey Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 There's no conflict. As soon as a GPU is pressed into the PCI-e slot the integrated graphics is disabled. The only way for me to re-enable it is by physically removing my graphics card.
bp9801 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Aha, well, is there anything running in the background eating up resources? Virus scan, web browser, video encoding?
momosmokey Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 No. It's nothing like that. I don't know, it's really strange. If it's not something obvious like a driver issue (which is 9 out of 10 reasons the GPU is running slow) I have no idea. Man, this is so frustrating. bp9801 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Is it just a performance drop in games/benchmarks or any other applications?
momosmokey Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Is it just a performance drop in games/benchmarks or any other applications? Yeah, like I said in the first post. When I play Crysis I now get 30-40 fps instead of 50-60 fps. I have no idea why though. Do you think my month-and-a-half year old GPU is already dying? bp9801 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 What are the temperatures like on the card? Seems odd it could be that, although faulty hardware would be nothing new. How old is the power supply?
momosmokey Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 PROBLEM FIXED! I did another driver uninstall and re-install. After uninstalling I completely turned of the computer and let it sit before re-installing. Metro 2033 averaging 38 FPS now in the benchmark as it should. Thanks for the attempted help.
