SpikeSoprano Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 HD 6850 or if you are fine with MIR's Both perform better than a GTX 460. I don't think so, some games maybe, most games no.
SpikeSoprano Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 El_capitan, You dont agree? Im not sure how valid the videobenchmarks.net website is, but that site has both of those cards a little bit better for around the same price. Kyle These benches are using a stock clocked 460, once it's oc'ed to it's poteneial it a very different benchmark.Anyone who owns a 460 will not leave it at stock clock, it's just not right, tell im Capi. Same with the 6850/70...... 6850 > 460 both at stock. If you deal with the MIR, you can get the 6870. and it Is obviously the better choice edit: added links 2nd edit: OH and those 6xxx cards come with Dirt 3 for free so thats a nice bonus Edited January 24, 2012 by _TheAlexO
Krieg1337 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Ahem... wha? http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/37286-amd-radeon-hd-6870-hd-6850-review-15.html http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/37286-amd-radeon-hd-6870-hd-6850-review-16.html http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/37286-amd-radeon-hd-6870-hd-6850-review-26.html Last one in particular. HD 6870 10% better at 1920 with 4xAA. Overall 21% HD 6850 is on par then, sometimes worse. HD 6870 is the better choice and can be OC'ed as well. SpikeSoprano Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 OK ,will give it up for the 6870, but up here in canada they still go for $200 , compared to $150 and sometimes $140 for a 460.
El_Capitan Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Too bad I don't have any more GTX 460 1GB's and HD 6870's to test with: A 32% overclock on a GTX 460 1GB goes a long way.
DLions8708 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I gotcha, most say go with the GTX, so I think I will do that. The Gigabyte has two fans which is nice. Thanks everyone. Kyle
Krieg1337 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Except those clocks are done under water, which will cost you another $150(at least, even if you cheap out on everything). Mine only gets to ~850 on the core and the temps go to 81C on load. (1.087V). Also, unigine isn't very great at showing the performance of two cards, actual games are always better than benchmarks. Speedway could get his over 1GHz on air... and you could just mod a Antec Kuhler H20 620 on it for an extra $50. Of course games are always better, but Unigine gives a good sense of the capability of cards.

I think they down graded them so they could drop the price a bit and make the 470 benchmarks look a lot better , or maybe try and move the 465's Edited January 26, 2012 by SpikeSoprano
