The 6970 is so close(like %10-30) to a 7970. I have an idea, just buy one now and X-fire as needed. Get them off ebay for >$300 and you have nearly twice the power for half the cost. But X-fire worries me. :-/

I think the 7970 is a little faster than 10 to 30 percent because its 10 to 30% faster than the gtx 580

did you really think they would put out a card that beats the comp by 25%

and then turn around and sell it for 30% less thats not how it works

 

I think it is possible depending on the way the business is run. When the design/production of the card is setup with a goal of producing card at a lower price point it is possible. This is what I think AMD does. They are attempting to beat the competition.
