Krieg1337 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I honestly just want to get away from USB, just don't like it very much. Anyways, this will be for my desktop and will be used for gaming and streaming games. My router can do 2.4ghz and 5ghz. So which would be the best for me? The router is located 1 story down and about 1.5-2 rooms over.(So from a diagonal line its probably 20+ meters)
d6bmg Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Dlink DWA 556, originally priced at $100, but presently price at only $55. Will be more than enough and worthy buying. Although you haven't written anything about your max budget.
Shurman292 Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Hmm well I've never had good luck with Dlink, and I know a couple friends who have had similar feelings towards the company. Unfortunately though, I don't have a better option for you since dual-band adapters that are not USB are hard to come by these days. d6bmg Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 ^^ MY experience is just opposite with D-Link. Generally use cisco/linksys router & switch with d-link adapters/network cards & yet to find first problem after using them for past 7-8 years. Linksys router failed us and we got a Dlink DIR-655 and could NOT be happier

IVIYTH0S Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 DIR-655 is that gigabit one, right? (being lazy don't want to search goggle) Ya, it's been problem free. Never had to reset it yet, the Linksys started dropping wireless on occasion and was still 802.11G so figured we'd go for the 655 and upgrade and fix the problem
