sh4un Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Hey, i'm new. I am getting ready for my 3rd build. I have very limited technical expertise, and simply tinker with my computer for my personal enjoyment. 2 questions. I was planning on getting an i5-2500k, will there be a noticeable difference if i was to wait and get an i5-3570k instead? (eta Q2-2012) Any recommendations for a good Z68 board? combined budget is around $
Stonerboy779 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 If you want to go with something like tri 7xxx cards then the 2011 socket would be the way to go with it's extra pci lanes. However if not then going either 2500k and z68 or phenomm II an 990 would be far more than adequate for gaming and work use. Ifyou don't care about benches the amd could quite likely be a better option although if you want some of the features of sandy bridge (and a z68 board) like quicksync, intel srt ect then a 2500k is plenty. Black64 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I would wait until the i5-3570k comes out and the i5-2500K goes down in price.
PopcornMachine Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 (edited) I'm going for a I5 2500K. Not that excited about Sandy Bridge-E. I see that the I5-3570k is an Ivy Bridge. Can't really comment on that. I think a 2500K will do me just now, and don't think I want to wait that long. oasis789 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Go for the 2500k, its only what, 200 bucks now? You can easily upgrade to an ivy bridge from a z68 card... just get spend a bit more for a futureproof one.
