iluvstrats2 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Would I run into any issue switching from an amd cpu and chipset to an intel cpu and chipset?
Stonerboy779 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Would I run into any issue switching from an amd cpu and chipset to an intel cpu and chipset? Only if you are hoping to just wack your hdd in and boot up. Other than that other issues should include increased performance, a big smile on your face when benching those 590s ect... iluvstrats2 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Would I need to reinstall windows? Didn't have to with changing amd chipset when i went from asus am3 to the asrock am3+990fx but figured I may have to with the intel setup. Can't wait to see how benchies perform with it
Stonerboy779 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 You could possibly with much difficulty make it work but seriously start fresh and copy over backed up docs and saves only.
iluvstrats2 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Possible to back up games, music, programs, then re-install windows and use the backed up files? Or would that not work?
Stonerboy779 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I would copy all that stuff to a separate hdd. Format your hdd install windows and drivers then programs. Copy back all you docs, pics, music ect steam game folder and you woukd be good to go. Alternatively trying to remove and clean the old drivers and replace them will become a huge hassle. Plus windows may not work properly after a mobo change due to the way its licence works all in all a hassle.
iluvstrats2 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Got a seagate 1tb hdd for backing up stuff on so I'll give that suggestion a try. Curious to see how the benchmarks turn out with it. I blame this website for getting me into all this upgrading lol.
