Onion Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 (edited) I'm looking to buy a racing wheel for pc so I can start playing some racing simulators. Dirt 3, F1 2010/2011, etc. I did a bit of research, but I'm still not too sure on what I want. Ideally, the wheel would have paddle shifters, and a clutch pedal (with the accelerator and the brake of course lol). I'm not too sure which ones are well built etc, and I don't want to make a mistake and buy the wrong one. I'm kind of on a tight budget with only $80 to spend, but if there's nothing good for that price, go ahead and link a couple more expensive ones as well so I know how much I need to save up. No Logitech G27 though, those are expensive as hell! Let's try to keep it under $150 dollars. iskout Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I would like to know too. These things are absurdly expensive!
mikedosul Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 (edited) For that budget you will be hard pressed to find anything with a full 3 pedal setup, which normally include a shifter since a clutch pedal & paddles just don't make automotive sense (other than pulling away from a stop, and this is only on a few paddle shift cars.) But I would say look around for a Thrustmaster F430 or a Logitech Driving Force GT. Both normally retail in places such as Best Buy for around $150, so I'd be willing to bet you can find a good deal online somewhere for considerably less. I have the Logitech and it's a decent unit for the price, force feedback is strong, response is quick and buttons galore. Also if you own a PS3 it will do double duty. VaporX Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I have a Saitek Wheel with dual pedal in the closet just collecting dust. The shame is that it is an awesome wheel set and Madcat has gutted and ruined the Saitek line.
Onion Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Found one. These things are so expensive! I was looking at that one last night, it looked pretty nice. This one is 80 dollars shipped, and non-refurb ones for for about 100 dollars. Time to save up I guess lol.
ekiM Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I have the G27, and I'm in love with Logitech's build quality and attention to detail. I know that you stated it's out of your price range, but I'd recommend it or the G25. Even if you have to wait and save up for a little while. The quality and design of both products is excellent and will serve you for years to come. Not to mention both have paddle shifters, and the other features you're looking for in a racing wheel. (The force feedback motors on both are great!) I purchased mine for just under 200 for a Black Friday sale last year; save up and don't buy something you might be disappointed in shortly down the line
Onion Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I know it's really good and all, but I don't think I can spend that much on a wheel. I'll wait until black friday to see how low the G25 goes, but even 200 is a lot of money. Plus, I don't see myself getting THAT into it, so I wouldn't want to buy drop 200 dollars on something I'll use for a couple years and then store in my closet.
