Organ Donation.

I am having to take out a new state id and i have been given the option to put myself on the organ donation register. I am currently undecided but was interested to hear ya'alls opions on it and whether you are on it.

In principle i don't mind it but while i am not worried about dying i don't like to consider it actually happening, let alone deciding if they can cut up my corpse or not.

So are you on the organ donation register, or if not why not?

when you're dead you won't care if they cut you up. Plus isn't it nice thinking that your death will give someone a bit longer to live.

Unless you have deep moral or religious beliefs against it, do it. They won't desecrate your body, and what doctors do take will be almost immediately used to help save peoples lives. It's one of the most self-less gifts you can give. You're giving the gift of life, you don't get much better than that.

 

Aaaaand now that I've read the first post more thoroughly, yes, I'm on the list, for reasons stated above. And like the others have said: I'm not going to be too concerned about my body when I'm dead .

I signed mine. Personally I never plan on dying, death is just for the lazy people. Death terrifies me to be honest, I enjoy life to much just to roll over and die.

 

 

If it dose happen though, I would rather someone else get the gift of life that I enjoyed so much.

I have one small doubt about being one . If Im in a coma and will come back to life in the future and they pull the plug on me thus taking away my chance. Also I might not be dead and they think I am and then cut me up anyway

 

Something else I think about constantly , is that those people who need organs are actually praying and hoping for them - They are praying and hoping for someone to die ! But I suppose if you were in their shoes, you would too.

 

Really a 50/50 decision with pros and cons. Just be sure your religion actually does support it because I remember some religions dont (ie blood is sacred and only God can give the give of life)

The idea of being cut up and parted out with kind of bothers me. I might change my mind as I get older, but for no, I'm not a donor. Also, I'm sure if I die anytime soon, it'll probably be in a horrific fireball on a race track. Won't be much to recover, unless you plan on eating well done internals.

I actually hadn't heard of a registration list for this until now, so I signed up immediately.

I don't think I'm registered as one[Just registered] but my family knows that I would like to

A. Donate my body/organs to anyone who needs them

B. Donate my body/organs to research

C. Be pulled off life support if I am in a vegetative state.

Do your families know how you feel about these?

I donate blood regularly. I have some hang up about getting carved up even though I'm dead. I should just get over it because in reality I don't care. When I look at the check box I don't pull the trigger because I get that image.
