Owenisbad Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Ok first off that psu is kind of overkill for that setup, have a look at a corsair tx750/850 instead. I would also get a larger ssd as 64gb is pretty small. The motherboard you chose is socket 1366 so it won't work with the cpu you chose, you will want a p67 socket 1155 board. Also, having owned that mouse I would say spend a little extra and get something like a logitech mx518 instead. Other than that everything looks fine, and great choice on the case
jameslowe Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 (edited) right the mobo is changed ASUS 1155 P8Z68 DELUXE S/L the ssd i was just going to use as a boot drive and maybe for a couple games but nothing major and the 850 watt will this be enough for the 2 graphics cards in sli ? as i read a review saying that these draw 450 watt at max load in sli dont realy know how much the other items draw to be hohnest also thanks you very much you have just saved me loads of moeny or trying to get refunded for the mother board it is much appreciated Edited November 11, 2011 by jameslowe
Owenisbad Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 No problem mate, just trying to make sure you get the best deal That motherboard looks fine to me and you should be ok with that ssd I guess, just bear in mind windows 7 on its own will probably take up a third or more of the space. 850w will be easily enough for your system, your i7 shouldn't use much more than 250w on full load even when heavily overclocked. If you wanted to save even more money, the tx750 should be fine too.

PSU RAM SSD boot SSD SRT Case Motherboard Video card x2 Processor is the i7 2600K, I would like to add that if you live close to a microcenter you can pick it up for about 280 instead of 315 Hard drive I will explain why I chose 1 drive in a sec. No kingston cooling thing, just buy bit fenix black fans with white leds to your taste. Cooler Blue Ray player Mouse Monitor Well that took forever, but I have it all there. Lets go over it shall we? I assumed you had a 3K budget, but a lot of these things are still overkill so we can always tweak the budget. So the first thing is the PSU. You will notice that it is a corsair 850w PSU with a gold efficiency rating perfect for sli and it is fully modular. Next is a pair of corsair vengeance ram at 1600mhz with 8-8-8 timings, which is a lot better than what you had. Then we have two SSDs the first one is a boot drive with 120gb of storage. This is a very special drive because it is a little bit faster than most drives in its storage division and it has 90K IOPS which makes it better for random reads and writes. Basically buy this drive. I will explain the second drive in a sec. Next we have the corsair 650D case. Do not be fooled by the bad pictures, this is a GORGEOUS case!!!! The cable management, the airflow, the simple yet elegant design, and the build quality make it one of the best cases on the market. I have the father of this case which would be the 850D which I would recommend for your build, but it would be a bit overkill. I love the Obsidian cases, and it works for any color scheme. Trust me, you will be very happy with this case. Then we have the motherboard. The motherboard you chose wont work because it is a 1366 Socket. It is old, overpriced, and useless, so I chose the Asrock mobo. A lot of people have been having problems with every board except Asrock and asus. I trust Asus more, but you just can't pass up the black and gold color scheme on the Asrock board! Next I was able to tweak the budget enough to upgrade your video cards to two gtx 570's. You are welcome! Ok now here comes the Hard drive mystery. I saw that you were getting two HDD's, and I could only assume you were going for raid 0. Well don't. Watch this video. Intel SRT is way faster than two HDDs in raid 0. Now your original hard drive purchase would be 300 dollars and the SRT tech solution would cost 335 with two terrabytes or it could cost you 215 with this HDD and the SSD after rebate. Don't worry about the performance of the HDD with SRT, you wont a bit of difference. Personally, unless it is simply imperative to have 1.5tb of data, I would just go with the 1tb and call it done and save a ton of money. The cooling is your choice. I think what you were referring to with the Kingston cooling this was a ram cooling device? In which case don't buy one. Instead buy some fans for your case. Personally, I think if you went with the corsair case and the motherboard, some black fans with white LEDs would make it look sweet. Maybe even a white LED strip in your case to pull your build together would be a great way to go. This is very important so read carefully. If you go with the corsair case, then the H100 is for you. You get much better cooling, and a much quieter system with the H100. However, because of the size of the radiator you have to be careful about the case you choose. If you do not want the 650D but want the cooler, then you need to make sure there is a place to mount it, and that it has enough height clearance. Fair warning. I would just keep it simple and go with both the case and cooler Blu Ray burner/player is nothing really special. Mouse is corsair with a nice warranty. It is very very very new which is always exciting. Monitor is 3D and cheaper than the one you chose. Personally, even if the other screen is better, I would stick with Asus just because of their reputation and attention to detail in their engineering. Let me know what you think so that I can help you
