Krieg1337 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 So it seems my PC is pulling a bit much power from the wall, our bill has been up a bit since I start using this one and OC'ing it. So I decided I will make 2 profiles, one for gaming and 1 for browsing internet/doing homework since I like to use youtube for music. I have a W3520(i7 920 D0, just the Xeon version) and I was wondering what would be the most effiecent settings that still allow me to do stuff without massive slow downs? Right now I am down to 2 cores, 2.66ghz and EIST enabled so mostly 1.6ghz. Memory is at 1600, although that shouldn't really suck much power. GPU is as low as it will get with Nvidia and dual monitors(there is an issue where it doesn't underclock completely with 2 monitors, not sure why they never fixed that/changed it). Anything else I can do or is this as good as it gets for power saving with a power hog of a platform?
ThInK192 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Check your BIOS for power saving features. You could always under volt your Vcore, VDIMM, PLL, and IMC. If you can down clock your CPU to 2.5ghz you might get away with a 1v Vcore.
