Blarzor Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Hello, I have a question. I am looking for a new graphics card for Skyrim. I currently have Sapphire Radeon 4890 but I want to replace it, to play game at maxed out settings with beauty mods smoothly. At resoultion 1280 x 1024 of course. I also use computer to make videos, so a graphic card that helps with rendering speed would be great. My system is: i7 920 @ 2600 mhz 6 gb ram at 1066 mhz - Rams are actually 1866 mhz, but my motherboard downclocks to 1066 mhz and I don't know how to set it to 1866 mhz Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P Sapphire radeon 4890 LC Power LC8850 "Arkangel" v2.2 850 W Would Sapphire Radeon 6870 1gb for 160 € be enough or I would have to get Sapphire Radeon 6950 Game Edition 2gb for 260€? I basicly want a ''future proof'' graphic card. I am pretty much used to Radeon graphic cards, but you can also suggest some other graphic card in that price range. Thanks for further help! P.S: I also want to buy new graphic card, to upgrade to DX 11 for future.

That 4890 is more than enough , you need a bigger res to feel the advantages of better cards. That 4890 would probably perform better at 1680x1050 than at 1280x1024 heck my laptop runs close to 1280x1024 smoothly on a HD5470M
Blarzor Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Well, how big monitor do you suggest? 24"? Money is kind of problem here, since I wanted to spend my money on graphic card.
Nyt Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Well its not so much about the size of a monitor but more-so the resolution. Any 1680x1050 monitor would be good unless you want to buy a full fledged 1080p monitor (might take more graphical power to max out FPS) I'd say sell the 4890 and your current monitor if you are able to get a 1680x1050 monitor with a DX11 card with more performance. What is your budget and what store in Europe do you plan on buying from ?
Blarzor Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I'll try to do that. Well If I told you which store I'm buying from, you wouldn't know anyway, because it's a store in non english country. Is there any good european store anyway? I think that graphic cards would cost even more with shipping and stuff...
Wolfrider Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 These are the german shops I buy from; they are generally 50 euros cheaper than in a store www.alternate.de www.avitos.de www.anobo.de I prefere anobo for the service. In what part of europe do you live? as for the video card, a 6850 cyclops should be fine, but do youreslf a favor and get a 1080p monitor! Computer stuff in our country is expensive, does anyone know if there is chance on those websites, by paying by delivery? It looks like that they don't deliver to my country. Any other cheap European store that sends to all European countries?
